PRIX D’ARCHITECTURE ET D’INNOVATION

THE JACQUES ROUGERIE FOUNDATION

The Jacques Rougerie Foundation aims to inspire and support young generations in developing innovative artistic and architectural projects inspired by nature, the sea, and space. Founded by architect and oceanographer Jacques Rougerie, the foundation promotes a visionary, biomimetic, and sustainable approach to addressing the major climatic and environmental challenges of our time. Each year, in collaboration with UNESCO, it organizes the prestigious Prix d’Architecture et d’Innovation, an international competition that rewards multidisciplinary and bold projects capable of combining creativity, innovation, and feasibility.

THE SPECIAL PRIZE “LAB ARCHITECTURE AND INNOVATION”

The Special Prize “Lab Architecture and Innovation” by the Fondation Jacques Rougerie is dedicated to experimental projects addressing major contemporary challenges such as climate change, the sea, and rising sea levels, with a focus on solutions achievable by 2050. This award celebrates ideas capable of proposing innovative and concrete solutions, contributing to shaping a more sustainable future.

I am honored that my project, L.I.S.A. – Innovative Laboratory for Sustainability and Analysis, has been awarded this prestigious prize. The work focuses on transforming decommissioned offshore oil platforms into self-sufficient centers for environmental research and technological innovation. Initially developed as part of my thesis, the project proposes a sustainable and adaptable model that repurposes existing industrial infrastructures, turning them into strategic resources for communities and the environment.

By integrating renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and wave power, advanced technologies for environmental monitoring, and multifunctional spaces, the project addresses the challenges of offshore platform decommissioning in an innovative way. For the competition, I further refined the work, developing new materials and improving technical details to enhance the feasibility and impact of the proposed solutions.

Despite the progress made, the project still requires additional studies and refinements to fully realize its potential and demonstrate its scalability in real-world applications. The support of the Fondation Jacques Rougerie and the valuable feedback received during the competition have been crucial in strengthening the project and have provided me with the motivation to continue my research.

The award ceremony was held at the prestigious Institut de France in Paris. The event was honored by the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Honorary President of the Fondation Jacques Rougerie; Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture; Xavier Darcos, Chancellor of the Institut de France; Laurent Petitgirard, Perpetual Secretary of the Académie des Beaux-Arts; Xavier Piechaczyk, Chairman of the Board of RTE; Jacques Rougerie, founder of the Fondation Jacques Rougerie, accompanied by Sophie Rougerie; Francis Rambert, French architecture critic; H.E. Alfonso Prada Gil, Ambassador of Colombia to France; and the Ambassador of Tajikistan to France, among many other distinguished personalities.

The photographs below, originally taken by Patrick Rimond, capture the elegance and significance of this remarkable evening. The ceremony was an unforgettable moment for me, not only because of the inspiring setting and the presence of so many renowned figures but also because of the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with the winners of the other categories. It was an emotional and enriching experience that I will always treasure.
